Hunter Doohan is gay in real life, which his fans already know. On the show, he plays Wednesday’s love interest Tyler Gaplin, but he is married to film producer Fielder Jewett. The couple got engaged on December 31, 2020, and married this year. Hunter’s Your Honor co-star Bryan Cranston presided over the ceremony.
Hunter has now talked about coming out and how important it was for him that his ex-girlfriend showed him Will & Grace.
Hunter told Queerty that his girlfriend at the time turned him on to Will & Grace, which was a big part of his coming out process. Then Queerty asked him if she was sorry, and he told her: “No! Her name is Grace, and she is now my best friend. We moved to Los Angeles together.”

Oh, Grace was her name?! This is almost too good. Hunter continued by saying: “But that show was the first time I learned the most about queer culture. I liked it a lot. I don’t even know how I was still “in the closet” since I was getting Will & Grace DVD box sets for Christmas!”
In another part of the interview, Hunter said who his dream “dad” on-screen would be. He said: “I mean, my first thought is that Matt Bomer is still too young to be a “daddy,” but I have such a crush on him. But he’s not even old, so he probably wouldn’t want to be a dad yet. I didn’t think I’d be saying that today.”

He also let slip that he likes Orville Peck a lot: “I’m crazy about Orville Peck right now. I think it’s so cool that there’s a gay country artist with such great music and a voice. Growing up in Arkansas, I was surrounded by country music.”
Hunter added: “I think that when I was figuring out that I was gay, part of me turned away from country music because I didn’t feel like I fit in there. As I’ve grown up, I’ve realized I like this music, which is why I love Orville Peck.”
