John Coleman Co-Owner Of Revel OTR Urban Winery Dies In A Tragic Accident
According to his business partner, John Coleman, co-owner of Revel OTR Urban Winery, passed away on March 27 in a “tragic accident” while on vacation in Panama City Beach, Florida. His age was fifty-one.
Revel OTR used social media to declare his passing. The winery posted, “It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of John Wesly Coleman Jr. His passing leaves a void in our hearts and community that will be deeply felt. JC was more than a business owner; he was a community leader, a friend, and a family man who touched the lives of all who knew him.”
Revel OTR, situated at 111 East 12th St., was opened in 2017 by Coleman, his wife Amy, and their business partners Anthony and Jodi Maieron. The business owners previously disclosed to The Enquirer that winemaking began for the two couples as a hobby but swiftly developed into a passion endeavor.
Anthony Maieron said, “He was very well respected in this community and always had a smile. He had a very infectious way of making people feel welcome and happy. Even though he is not with us physically, we feel like he’s with us spiritually, and our goal is to make sure that he’s continuing to make an impact in other people’s lives.”
Coleman spent six years as a lead sales engineer for Lumen Technologies, a telecommunications business, in addition to Revel. In addition, he spent almost 15 years as a senior network specialist and senior product sales specialist at CBTS.
On the board of the OTR Chamber of Commerce, Coleman also held the position of vice chair. Following Coleman’s passing, the business shared on social media.
Board Chair Mike Sullivan wrote, “JC had a gift. It was impossible to leave him feeling anything but better than you did before you were with him. His infectious laughter, genuine personality, and thoughtful approach to challenges and opportunities were an asset to the Chamber and the OTR neighborhood. He will be deeply, deeply missed.”

According to his obituary, Coleman was a 1990 alumnus of Finneytown High School and a resident of Cincinnati. According to his LinkedIn profile, he graduated from Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, poetry, and drama.
Wesly and Langston, Coleman’s two boys, and his wife Amy survive him. His family asks that donations be sent to the John Wesly Coleman Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund, a memorial established at Finneytown High School in Coleman’s honor, in lieu of flowers.
Coleman’s visitations will be held at Spring Grove Funeral Homes on Friday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. and at The Vineyard Church on Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon. The funeral will take place at The on Saturday from noon to 1:30 p.m.
