Justin Guarini was born in Columbus, Georgia, on October 28, 1978, in the United States. His mother, Kathy Pepino Guarini, is a journalist for WTVM TV in Columbus and later for CNN. His father, Eldrin Bell, is a former chief of police in Atlanta, Georgia, and a former chairperson of the Clayton County Commission in Clayton County, Georgia.
In the Philadelphia suburb of Doylestown, Pennsylvania, Guarini was reared by his mother and stepfather, Jerry Guarini.
In Buckingham, Pennsylvania, Justin Guarini attended Central Bucks High School East. Guarini chose to pursue vocal performance and theatre studies at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia after graduating from high school. After moving, he went to school at the School of Film and Television in New York City.
