Lakeport Man Arrested For Fatal Drive-By Shooting
For the drive-by shooting that claimed the life of a Clearlake lady last week, authorities have detained a guy from Lakeport.
It was early on Monday that Nathaniel Ladre Hueners, 21, was taken into custody, as stated by Lt. Martin Snyder of the Clearlake Police Department. Elizabeth Williams, 45, is said to have been shot by him and died.
According to Snyder, Clearlake Police officers were called to the 15300 block of Pacific Avenue on Friday shortly before 11 p.m. regarding a report of multiple gunshots heard.
Snyder added that when attending to the call, the responding police discovered that a person with a gunshot wound was being driven to the hospital by a concerned party.
He stated that the adult female victim, who was undergoing treatment for a gunshot wound, was contacted by the officers who responded to Adventist Health Clear Lake Hospital.
Despite the efforts of the medical professionals to save Williams’ life, she passed away from her wounds.
According to Snyder, when Clearlake Police investigators arrived to help with the investigation, it was discovered that Williams was operating a car close to Konocti View Road and Pacific Avenue.
One of the occupants of the other vehicle fired at Williams’ car as it drove up next to hers, striking her once. Then, the suspect drove away from the scene.
Snyder stated that officers determined Hueners to be a potential suspect based on the evidence and witness accounts. Detectives were able to secure an arrest warrant for him following more investigation.
According to Snyder, Lakeport Police officers responded to a noise complaint at a hotel in Lakeport at around one in the morning on Monday.
The cops spoke with three individuals, including Hueners, while looking into the noise complaint in one of the rooms. According to Snyder, the Lakeport Police officers also found a gun at the hotel that is thought to be connected to Hueners.
Hueners was taken into custody and lodged in the Lake County Jail on charges of murder, firearm assault, possessing a firearm without authorization, and breaching the terms of community supervision after release.
Listed on his booking sheet as an In-home Supportive Services worker, Hueners is being held without bail in relation to the murder case.
According to jail records, he is scheduled to be presented on Wednesday in Lake County Superior Court. Please call Det. Chris Kelleher at 707-994-8251, Extension 321 if you have any information on this particular incident.
