The couple had been apart for “a really long time,” according to Philipps, 42, who revealed as much to her co-hosts on Friday’s episode of her podcast, “Busy Philipps Is Doing Her Best,” assuring them that their children, family, and friends already knew.

The “Dawson’s Creek” alum described the split as a “journey,” saying that the thought of coming up with a combined statement to handle the split “made us sick, both of us, truly ill.” According to an entertainment news source, Philipps and Silverstein, both 50, got married in 2007 and have two children together: Birdie, 13, and Cricket, 8.
