It’s official: Peaky Blinders season six is on its way. But you best make the most of the opportunity since this will be the show’s last season… at least on television.
Season five had it all: incredible highs (welcome back, Alfie Solomons), gut-punching lows (RIP Aberama Gold), a tonne of slaughter, and just about everything in between. Season five was a rollercoaster of emotions.
But enough with the outdated. Now that everything is over, it’s time to look forward and see what Steven Knight has in store for us next.
“Peaky is back, and he’s coming in with a boom,” he teased in a statement, hinting to what’s to come in season six. “Following the forced production halt caused by the COVID outbreak, we find the family in grave danger, with the stakes never having been greater.
“We feel that this will be the finest series of all time, and we are certain that our incredible fans will enjoy it.” The tale will continue in another manner as the television series is coming to an end.”
Release Date Of Peaky Blinders
As of January 26, 2022, there is no official release date for Peaky Blinders season six – however there are lots of indicators that it will be released very soon, with all promotional material indicating that it would premiere ‘early’ in the year.
New cast member Conrad Khan may have spilled the beans to Radio Times a bit early by telling them in 2021: “From what I last heard – I mean, these things change so rapidly – I imagine that will come out next February, the beginning of next year.”
Paul Anderson, a fellow cast member, also sparked speculation when he appeared on Instagram. Cillian Murphy, who portrays Arthur Shelby Jr. in the film, uploaded a photo of Anderson on January 24. On the set of the show’s premiere episode, the two actors posed for a black-and-white photo with their fake firearms. First picture of Tommy and Arthur together appeared in the caption.
This is the final time we will use these firearms. We bought them 10 years ago, and we’ll be putting them away soon!”

Seeing as most of January’s scheduling is now in place, this would be the earliest we can see it landing. However, creator Steven Knight previously confirmed to Variety that spring 2022 would be the release window, which would place season six’s debut between March and June.
Guess we’ll have to wait and see, but either way, it’s pretty soon, and sounds totally worth the wait.
Emmett J Scanlan, who plays Billy Grade,toigital Spld Dy that season six is “so f**king strong”.
He added: “I’ve read all the scripts since then, which of course are all subject to change… It won’t disappoint, I promise you. Steven is a master.“
Peaky Blinders season 6 episodes: How many will there be
It’s safe to assume that the next chapter of the BBC series will continue the tradition of six episodes every season, as has been the case for all five seasons so far. Peaky Blinders season six, episode one, ‘Black Day,’ has been known for some time.
Asked about the possibility of extended episodes by Digital Spy, Byrne stated, “We spoke about it for both the first episode and the last episode of season six. The notion is excellent, it would be amazing to do.”
Cast Of Peaky Blinders
In the season five finale, Tommy Shelby (played by Sam Claflin) seemed to be losing his mind and was on the verge of taking his own life after being betrayed during his failed assassination attempt on Oswald Mosley.
There will be a return of Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy), Arthur Shelby (Paul Anderson), Michael Gray (Finn Cole), and Ada Thorne (Sofia Rundle).
It has been announced that Tom Hardy will return as Tommy’s long-standing foe Alfie Solomons in subsequent episodes, and that Claflin will reprise his role as Nazi lawmaker Moseley.
In terms of the new cast, Black Mirror’s Conrad Khan and Animal Kingdom’s James Frecheville have been cast in an as-yet-unknown role. Amber Anderson, another Black Mirror star, has been hired in an unnamed role.
Stephen Graham, star of Line of Duty and Venom: Let There Be Carnage, is the star of the show, and he joins as a guest star. At the very least, the teaser suggests that he and the Shelbys are already at war. In terms of who he’ll be playing? We’ll find out in due time.
“Not as Al Capone – I didn’t want to go west because it’s a minefield if you get into Chicago gangsters,” Knight stated in an edition of the Obsessed With… Peaky Blinders podcast. That’s why he wasn’t mentioned in the last series, but I didn’t want to delve into it.”
In response to a question about what part Graham would play, he responded, “I’ve already got it and I’m not going to tell you!”

Plot Of Peaky Blinders
Knight has already hinted that what’s next will be even better than what we’ve seen so far. Series six is “the greatest I’ve ever written,” according to him in an interview with BBC.

Scanlan addressed the popular notion that Billy is to blame, stating, “Hypothetically speaking, would you blame him if he did [betray Tommy Shelby]??” in an interview with Digital Spy
“He is coerced, threatened, and coerced into doing what they want. Psychologically as well as physically, they abuse him. Then, would you be angry at him for doing so?”
That cliffhanger where Tommy collapsed as he held a pistol at his head was characterised as part one of two, so we expect it to be resolved.
In 1936, Mosley married Diana Guinness, his second wife. As a result of her close friendship with Hitler, she and her future husband-to-be exchange vows in Joseph Goebbels’ residence. Adolf Hitler might make a cameo, given his connection to Winston Churchill.
In the fall of 2020, rumours started circulating that Mr Bean himself, Rowan Atkinson, had been cast as Hitler, but show executives confirmed Metro.co.uk that it is “absolutely not true.”.
According to several deleted moments from Peaky Blinders season five, Aberama urged Polly to quit from Shelby due of Tommy’s activities with Nazis. To support troops suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Tommy started a nonprofit organisation.
However, that voyage is not going to be a walk in the park. According to Knight (via PeakyBlinders.tv), Tommy will be in a different emotional place by the end of season six.
“In a sense, he’s in a state of flux. He’s no longer able to remain numb, thus he’s able to feel things “Knight remarked on the matter.
“It’s like you just had a dental procedure and the anaesthetic is starting to wear off. It wasn’t until he tried this new strategy that he realised how much more effective it was for him. Withdrawal from the medication leaves him feeling and recalling memories, which puts him in danger.

Her demeanour has completely changed. In order to end it, she’s attempting to push him over the edge. By doing so, you might claim that she’s really doing him a favour.”
Trailer Of Peaky Blinders
The Peaky Blinders trailer was released on January 1st, 2022, and it shows nothing but rage and doom.
However, it doesn’t seem like Tommy is quite ready to “let the Peaky Blinders rest” just yet.
Aside from Gina, we see Michael coming on a boat, dressed like a Mafia leader, as if he’s leading his own empire.
It seems as though the battles the Peaky Blinders have won in Birmingham are simply a prelude to the real wars that lie ahead as the Nazis gain prominence throughout Europe. We can’t wait to find out what lies ahead.
End Lines
Tommy runs into an empty field towards the end of the fifth season of Peaky Blinders, where Grace and a black horse are waiting for him to arrive. “The work’s all done, Tommy,” she seems to remark, perhaps encouraging him to commit suicide yet more time. Everything has been completed.
