Chris Sheridan adapted Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse’s comic book series of the same name into the American science fiction mystery comedy-drama series Resident Alien. Based on 31 reviews, the review aggregate Rotten Tomatoes has given the first season a “certified fresh” approval rating of 94%, with an average rating of 7.79/10. Among the website’s critical consensus is the following: “Resident Alien takes a minute to settle into its skin, but once it does, it finds fresh humour in a familiar structure and becomes a fitting showcase for Alan Tudyk’s singular comedic skills.”
The first season received “generally positive reviews,” according to Metacritic, which gave it a weighted average score of 70 out of 100 based on 15 critic reviews. This is conclusive evidence that the series has been well-received by both audiences and critics. Therefore, it was simple for the network to keep and grow this franchise. What made Syfy decide to give Resident Alien a third season?
With an average of 2.3 million viewers in L+7, the UCP series is among this year’s top 15 most-watched cable series, and one of the top 5 most-watched cable dramas, per an official Syfy press release. It has approximately 11 million viewers total and was just nominated for “Best Comedy Series” by the Hollywood Film Critics Association. Chris Sheridan, who also serves as the show’s executive producer, adapted Resident Alien for the small screen. Dark Horse Entertainment’s Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg, together with Amblin TV’s Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank, serve as executive producers.
Resident Alien Season 3 Release and Storyline
Season 3 of Resident Alien was renewed by Syfy only a few hours ago, on July 22, 2022, therefore the network has yet to announce a premiere date for the next season. As an upside, we know the next season will include 12 episodes, and we can probably assume that production will start on time like the previous two. The network’s timely renewal announcement should reassure viewers that the next season won’t be delayed and will premiere sooner than they expected.
Early 2023 is a reasonable window for a release, we think. If the release schedule for the previous season is any indication, we may expect the premiere of the new season to occur in January of 2023. Further, we’d want to stress that at this point, everything is conjecture. The Syfy channel will announce and confirm the formal premiere dates in the coming months.
Since the second half of the season has not yet aired on the network, we are unable to speculate on the exact plotlines because we do not know how the second season will conclude. It has been speculated, nevertheless, that the new season will pick up any cliffhangers or subplots and dive right into this area, giving viewers something different to think about in place of the regular themes.
Many episodes of the series have received favourable reviews from viewers, which has resulted in increased interest in the show’s broadcast and streaming broadcasts. Their reaction to the added pressure promises to be fascinating and provide something new to the series.
Part 2 of our preview for Season 2 of Resident Alien
Sheridan told Deadline, “I believe the journey in Season 2 is sort of extending that humanity to individuals outside of Asta developing empathy and trying to discover maybe there are other people in this world who he can maybe care about as well as opposed to just Asta.” We don’t want to do it too soon where all of a sudden he cares about everybody, so it does go over into season two.
And in season 2, Harry is stranded on Earth once again, dealing with the fallout of his people’s unsuccessful attempt to exterminate humanity. Season 2 continues directly after the shocking decision Asta (Sara Tomko) made to save Harry’s life in the midpoint.
While searching for the alien infant, they are forced to confront the psychological fallout from the previous night, leading to profound realizations for each of them. Sherriff Mike (Corey Reynolds) and Deputy Liv (Elizabeth Bowen) look into a major case as Ben (Levi Fiehler) and Kate (Meredith Garrettson) try to sell Patience on a new resort. A recurring character in the show is Judah Prehn.
On August 10, 2022, the second half of the season will premiere, and it will be counted as the ninth episode of the season. The episode will be called “Autopsy,” as confirmed by the show’s producers. Cherry Chevapravatdumrong has written this episode, which will likely run between 44 and 46 minutes. The episode will likely continue the story begun in the season finale of the first season.
Resident Alien Season 3 Cast
Among the recurrent cast members of Resident Alien are Alan Tudyk (the alien/Harry), Sara Tomko (Asta Twelvetrees), Corey Reynolds (Mike Thompson), Alice Wetterlund (D’Arcy Bloom), Levi Fiehler (Ben Hawthorne), Judah Prehn (Max Hawthorne), and Elizabeth Bowen (Liv Baker).
Resident Alien is an adaptation of the comic book of the same name created by Chris Sheridan and produced by UCP, a branch of Universal Studio Group, in cooperation with Amblin TV and Dark Horse Entertainment. Dark Horse Entertainment’s Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg, together with Amblin TV’s Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank, serve as executive producers.
