Ellen’s best friend is Roberta Zaktzer, and the two of them used to watch The Bachelor and The Bachelorette together regularly. For 60 years, Ellen and Roberta were best friends and ardent followers of the series.
The contestant is really seated next to her friend Roberta in the little welcome video for Ellen, who at the time was coping with breast cancer. As they discuss the forthcoming season, she gives her a kiss on the cheek.

Roberta Zaktzer Death
Sadly, Roberta passed away on September 7, 2023, shortly before Ellen made her television debut, according to a post on Instagram made by Roberta’s daughter.
“Tonight we lost one of the brightest lights,” she wrote in part of the caption. “I know dad has a Pinot Grigio and pancakes waiting.”

Just one day before her friend Roberta passed away, Ellen also posted a heartfelt Instagram tribute to her. She captioned a picture of the two of them with, “Good times and bad, happy and sad, it’s a friendship that will last a lifetime.”
“We watched The Bachelor together from the very beginning. She convinced me to apply for The Golden Bachelor and here I am because of her. She’s going through some difficult times now and I want her to know that true friendship is precious. Thank you Roberta. I’m here because you believed in me and and I believe in you too. Love you bestie!❤️”

A Battle With Cancer That Tested Her Strength
In 2022, Roberta received a cancer diagnosis and started receiving treatment. She did not allow her condition to prevent her from fully embracing life. She kept up her work, traveled, and socialized with her loved ones. She also maintained her optimism and hope for a speedy recovery.
In addition to watching Ellen on The Golden Bachelor, she was determined to destroy cancer. Sadly, Roberta Zaktzer’s condition deteriorated, and on September 10, 2023, she gently died away in her home, surrounded by those she loved.
Her daughter Stephanie Esposita, son-in-law Michael Esposita, grandchildren Michael Jr. and Sophia, as well as great-granddaughter Mia, remain in her life. Her sister, Barbara Zaktzer, brother-in-law, David Zaktzer, and nieces and nephews are also left to cherish her memory. Richard Zaktzer, her late husband, predeceased her in 2015.
