Ron DeSantis became the 46th governor of Florida in January 2019. As he worked to keep Florida open for business during the pandemic, he became more well-known across the country. On his way to becoming governor, he worked as a lawyer for the U.S. Navy and served in the House of Representatives. DeSantis is now a possible candidate for the presidency in 2024.
DeSantis is not rich compared to other national politicians, but his wealth has grown since he became governor, and he has done a good job of raising money for his campaign. Here is a look at DeSantis’s background and how much money he has.

Ron Desantis Political Career
District 6 chose DeSantis to run for the U.S. House of Representatives in 2012. Before running for governor in 2018, he had already been in office for three terms. DeSantis is known for his ability to raise money. He has raised more than $100 million for his re-election campaign in 2022, making him the first candidate from any state to do so.
OpenSecrets says that Meg Whitman (R-Calif.) and JB Pritzker (D-Ill.) mostly paid for their campaigns with their own money, while other candidates have spent nine figures on their campaigns. DeSantis isn’t rich on his own, and he raises money for his campaign with the help of state parties, national parties, and wealthy GOP donors. He gets big checks from businesses with a lot of power in Florida, and people from all 50 states give him small amounts of money.
