Marilee Fiebig, who is no longer married to T.J. Holmes, is speaking out for the first time about the divorce and Holmes’ alleged affair with “GMA3” co-host Amy Robach.
Stephanie Lehman, Fiebig’s lawyer, sent a statement to the DailyMail on Wednesday that said, “Marilee has only ever thought about what is best for her nine-year-old daughter. So, TJ’s lawyer and I have been working together to move forward with their divorce in a way that is private, quick, and as friendly as possible.”
Lehman told USA TODAY that the report was true.
The lawyer also said, “Even so, Marilee and the parties’ daughter continue to be hurt by T.J.’s lack of discretion, respect, and sensitivity.”
“Marilee has been moved by the outpouring of support and is looking forward to new beginnings in the new year,” the statement said.
On December 28, T.J. Holmes asked for a divorce from his wife, Marilee Fiebig, because he was rumored to be having an affair with “GMA3” co-host Amy Robach.

According to court records obtained by USA TODAY, the 45-year-old co-anchor at ABC filed for divorce from Fiebig, an immigration lawyer, a week ago in New York City. They had been married for 13 years.
USA TODAY has tried to get in touch with Holmes’s reps and lawyers.

Holmes and Fiebig got married in March 2010, and they have a daughter together, Sabine, who is 9 years old. The “GMA3” co-first anchor’s wife, Amy Ferson, gave him two kids, Brianna and Jaiden, from a previous marriage.
ABC takes anchors Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes off ‘GMA3’ because of their rumored affair.
The petition for divorce comes after the alleged romance between Holmes and Robach, 49, made headlines last month when the Daily Mail published video and photos that showed something romantic was going on between the two married anchors. In one photo, the two were holding hands. In another, Holmes is rubbing the bottom of Robach.
The news organization also got pictures and a video of Holmes and Robach kissing in Miami last week.
Robach wed “Melrose Place” star Andrew Shue in 2010. While the pair did not have kids together, Robach has two children from her first marriage to Tim McIntosh.
Last month, ABC decided to sideline Robach and Holmes from the afternoon news program, calling the allegations a “distraction.”

ABC News President Kim Godwin alerted the editorial staff to her decision on Dec. 5 in a meeting.
“While the relationship is not a violation of company policies, I have taken the last few days to think through what I think is best for our organization. For now, I’m going to take Amy and T.J. off the air while we figure this out,” Godwin said, according to an employee on the call who was not authorized to share details publicly.
ABC declined to comment at the time.
Holmes appeared to hint at marital strife in a March 2020 Facebook post in which he admitted he gave Fiebig “plenty of reasons, excuses, and opportunities to walk her fine (behind) out the doooooooor. But instead, with her built-in black woman superpower, she showed grace and patience that’s incomprehensible.”
