Thad Michael Matta (born July 11, 1967) is the current head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes men’s basketball team in the United States. On July 7, 2004, he was appointed as Ohio State’s 13th head coach after the school sacked former coach Jim O’Brien. In each of his 14 seasons as a head coach, he has averaged 20 victories each season. Matta has to lead the Buckeyes to five Big Ten regular-season titles, four Big Ten Tournament Championships (2007, 2010, 2011, and 2013), a runner-up finish in the 2007 NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Tournament, the 2008 NIT Championship, and a second appearance in the Final Four in 2012.
