Tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs Travis Kelce said he “gotta be a better teammate” and “a better leader” after fighting with another player over the weekend during training camp.

ESPN said that after tight end Travis Kelce scored a touchdown pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes during Saturday’s practice at Missouri Western State University, the two-time Super Bowl winner punched linebacker, Jack Cochrane.

After Kelce made the grab, Cochrane embraced him, but then Kelce landed a left punch on his teammate. They pushed each other and then parted ways.

Following a reception, Kelce was seen on video the day before getting into an altercation with CB Dicaprio Bootle.

After being kicked out of a game in 2016 for throwing his towel at a referee, Kelce posted an apology on the social networking site X, writing, “gotta be a better teammate gotta be a better leader… plain and simple.”

During training camp, many other Chiefs players were involved in fights. On Sunday, cornerback Jaylen Watson and wide receiver Ihmir Smith-Marsette got into it.

Andy Reid, head coach of the Chiefs, has indicated that the squad may have disagreements but that fighting is never acceptable.

“You get thrown out of games doing it, you get hurt out here doing it,” Reid said. “But they’re going to jaw. It’s hot, humid. They’re going to jaw a little bit. Just as long as there are not punches thrown, we’re all right.″

The Athletic said that Reid was happy to hear that Kelce still had “some juice left in him” and mentioned that Kelce had apologized.

According to odds provided to ESPN by Caesars Sportsbook, the defending champion Chiefs are heavy favorites to win Super Bowl LII.
