Concord, N.C. — A holiday tree lighting celebration turned chaotic Friday evening when gunfire broke out in a large crowd, leaving four people injured and prompting a major police response in downtown Concord.
According to Concord Police Maj. Patrick Tierney, the shooting occurred just before 7:30 p.m. near Union Street and Corbin Avenue, only steps away from the center of the annual community event attended by families and children.
Two Suspected Shooters Identified; Both in Critical Condition
Police confirmed the shooting involved two suspects who knew each other.
Suspect 1: Nasir Ahmad Bostic, 18
- Identified as one of the shooters
- Suffered gunshot wounds
- Listed in critical condition
- Facing multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon
- Arrest warrant will be served once he is released from the hospital
Suspect 2: Juvenile Male
- Also identified as a shooter
- Injured and in critical condition
- Expected to face similar charges
Authorities stressed that the incident was not random and stemmed from a dispute between the two.
Third Suspect Charged for Role in the Incident
A 17-year-old has been identified as a third suspect.
Police say the teen did not fire shots but is charged with:
- Accessory after the fact
- Inciting a riot
The third suspect was not injured.
Four Total Victims Hospitalized
Emergency crews already stationed at the event — including Concord Police, Concord Fire, and Cabarrus County EMS — responded within seconds.
- 3 victims are in critical condition
- 1 victim is in stable condition
Police are reviewing video footage, gathering witness statements, and processing evidence as part of the ongoing investigation.

Concord, a city of roughly 105,000 residents located 25 miles northeast of Charlotte, is reeling after violence disrupted what was meant to be a festive start to the holiday season.
