In a somber moment for motorsport enthusiasts, Bruce Kessler, a legendary figure in the racing world, has left us after a short battle with illness at the age of 88. But amidst the sadness, let’s celebrate the vibrant life of this remarkable individual.
Bruce Kessler Died After A Brief Illness
On Thursday, April 4, Bruce Kessler passed away in Marina del Rey, California. The well-known director passed away on Monday, April 8, at the age of 88, although his passing was not made public until then. Bruce Kessler’s brother, Stephen Kessler, broke the devastating news that he died after a brief illness.
The American was born in Seattle on March 23, 1936. When Bruce was ten years old, his family relocated to Los Angeles during the Second World War, during which the US fought. One of the young man’s greatest hobbies in life, motor racing, was first discovered in Beverly Hills.

His racing career took off when he was just 17 years old, and it reached a turning point in 1955.
“That bit of luck was very important for his later life, both on and off the track,” Bruce Kessler’s brother Stephen noted, adding that the actor should have been driving with James Dean the day he died in his Porsche.
He was forced to leave the racing scene after two catastrophic incidents, and he started a new career in the field of art. His first project was a short film about Formula One (F1) called “The Sound of Speed,” which he made to represent the United States at the Cannes Film Festival.
Bruce Kessler was in charge of films including “McCloud,” “Mission: Impossible,” and “The Greatest American Hero” after making his way into the film industry.
But he will always be associated with three television shows that defined distinct generations: “Knight Rider,” “McGyver,” and “The A-Team.” Even after several decades, these productions still provide content.
