Due to his ongoing recovery from peptic ulcer disease, Bruce Springsteen has canceled his remaining performances through the end of 2023.
According to a statement released: “Bruce Springsteen has continued to recover steadily from peptic ulcer disease over the past few weeks and will continue treatment through the rest of the year on doctor’s advice. With this in mind, and out of an abundance of caution, all remaining 2023 tour dates for Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band will be postponed until 2024.”
It continues: “Rescheduled dates for each of the 2023 shows, including those postponed earlier this month, will be announced next week, all taking place at their originally scheduled venues. When the new 2024 dates are announced, those unable to attend on the new date who purchased their tickets through official ticketing companies have 30 days to request a refund. All tickets for postponed performances will remain valid for the newly announced dates.”
Springsteen said, “Thanks to all my friends and fans for their good wishes, encouragement, and support. I’m doing better and hope to see you all next year.”
Representatives for Springsteen announced the postponement of the New York performances on social media earlier this month. The concerts, which Springsteen had originally planned to perform in October after postponing them for the month of September, will now take place in 2024.
In August, Springsteen postponed a pair of performances in Philadelphia due to a health issue that was finally classified as peptic ulcer disease.

What Is Peptic Ulcer Disease?
Peptic ulcers, also known as stomach or gastric ulcers, can develop when the GI tract’s barrier (the mucosa) is irritated or damaged, as explained by Bupa. Food is digested and absorbed in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, which includes the esophagus, stomach, and intestines.
In a normal person, the stomach acid that aids digestion is kept at bay by the lining of the gastrointestinal tract. However, your GI tract might be damaged by acid if the amount of acid grows or the lining is compromised. A peptic ulcer may develop as a result.
Peptic ulcers usually heal after a few months of treatment, while there is no guaranteed time frame for healing. This healing time, however, is conditional on the leading cause of the ulcers.

“It’s an injury that might give rise to symptoms,” Dr. Alan Chen of MedStar Health’s gastroenterology department explained to CBS News about peptic ulcers, “like pain, even blood in the stool, that is seen as a dark tarry stool.”

Chen added: “People should just be aware that whenever you are taking medications like those painkillers, be aware of how much you are taking and try not to take it for too long or too much of those medications because they can damage the lining of the stomach.”
