Carolyn Bryant Donham Husband – Roy Bryant
Roy Bryant was married to Carolyn. A native of Mississippi, Roy Bryant entered the world on January 24, 1931. He was raised by a family of cotton growers and finished eighth grade in school. When the Korean War broke out, he enlisted in the US military.
He wed Carolyn Bryant in 1949, and the couple eventually ran a supermarket in Money, Mississippi. In August 1955, the couple gained national attention when 14-year-old African-American Emmett Till from Chicago patronized their business.
Roy Milam and his half-brother J.W. Milam abducted, tortured, and murdered Emmett after Carolyn accused him of making sexual advances toward her. The case received widespread media coverage and is now recognized as a watershed moment in the Civil Rights Movement.
Carolyn Bryant Donham Husband—What Happened To Him?
J.W. Milam, Roy Bryant’s half-brother, and Bryant were acquitted of murdering Emmett Till in 1955, but Milam later admitted to the crime in an essay for Look magazine. Bryant and Donham’s separation in 1979 was followed by Bryant’s death from illness in 1994.
