Following the incident late on Monday morning, police requested a medical helicopter and closed off the area near Catskill Creek. The crane, situated in a lot off of the roadway, was being sprayed with water by firefighters. The chopper touched down close by, although it was not apparent if Luciano was piloted. He was taken to the hospital at Albany Medical Center.
A few workers were present at the scene when the accident occurred. According to Frascello, the workers were employed by Creekside Restaurant and were clearing trees from the 12 Greene St. land with the crane. According to Frascello, Creekside Restaurant bought the crane.
Frascello said that no more workers were hurt at the location. To support Luciano’s loved ones and help with funeral costs, a GoFundMe page has been established.
