“Deadloch,” an Amazon original noir comedy, has begun filming in Tasmania.
The storey opens with the discovery of a man’s death on the beach in Deadloch, a peaceful seaside village. To solve the case, two female detectives are brought together, one meticulous, the other a rough-and-ready outsider. They must work together to solve the case while the town hosts its annual crafts, culture, and food festival.
The eight-part series will star Kate Box (“Fires,” “Wentworth”), Madeleine Sami (“The Breaker Upperers”), Alicia Gardiner (“Wakefield”), Nina Oyama (“Utopia”), and an ensemble cast.
Gracie Otto (“The Moth Effect,” “Seriously Red”) and Beck Cole (“Black Comedy,” “Wentworth”) will direct “Deadloch” between February and May. It’s a Prime Video, Guesswork Television, and OK Great Productions joint venture.
McCartney, McLennan, Kim Wilson, Christian White, Anchuli Felicia King, Kristy Fisher, and Sami wrote it. McCartney and McLennan will also produce the show. Co-producer Fiona McConaghy McCartney, McLennan, Kevin Whyte, and Tanya Phegan are executive producers.
Holly Austin, Kartanya Maynard, and Naarah round out the cast. Amazon has commissioned fourteen Australian shows since 2019, including three written dramas.
