Firefly Lane won’t light up the awards circuit, but it’s compulsive viewing nonetheless, thanks in large part to Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke. For Netflix’s latest dose of comfortable blanket viewing and pumpkin-spice realness, the two stars forsake the hospital life of Grey’s Anatomy and Scrubs for something lot more healthy.
After digesting ten episodes of engrossing drama and dubious wigs, you’re undoubtedly wondering when you’ll be able to take your next stroll down Firefly Lane. The good news is that Netflix has renewed the series for a second season – the only bad news is there’s no guaranteed release date as yet.
Firefly Lane Season 2 Release Date-
In May 2021, the Firefly Lane team announced that the show would be returning for a second season. “Is there going to be a season two?” was one of the questions Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke were asked by fans in a video released by Netflix.
The second season of Firefly Lane is now filming in Vancouver, and Katherine Heigl tweeted a photo from the set in November 2021, when the show was in production. To that end, in an Instagram caption, she stated, “I’d love to share some behind the scenes shots with you all but I can’t… now,” indicating that she was “busy filming the second season.”
Firefly Lane Season 2 Cast-
It’s impossible to predict who may die in Firefly Lane, but the following characters are virtually certainly returning for season two:
• Katherine Heigl as Tully Hart
• Ali Skovbye as Young Tully
• Sarah Chalke as Kate Mularkey
• Roan Curtis as Young Kate
• Ben Lawson as Johnny Ryan
• Beau Garrett as Cloud
• Yael Yurman as Marah, Kate’s teenage daughter
It’s possible that Ben won’t make it through a possible second season, based on the cliffhanger from the season finale…
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Maggie Friedman said she “knew for sure” that the “Johnny moment” would arrive.

Firefly Lane Season 2 Plot-
For Friedman, if the show is renewed for a second season, there will be more stories to tell about the high school years of the characters on the show.
“When we last saw them, they were in the seventh grade. Teenage years and the decade of the 1970s will be memorable ones for them, filled with memorable music, fashion, and other cultural shifts. It’s fascinating, to me at least. I’d love to keep reminding everyone how fantastic those tales and performances are, and I’d love to watch them again, especially because Beau [Garrett, who plays Cloud] is incredible.”
In an interview with Collider, Friedman said she hopes for “many seasons.” Plenty of wig-related fun. First day on set, Chalke and Heigl were “actually trying these personalities on, trying to find them, putting on wigs, and laughing our heads off,” she said in an interview with The Wrap.

Conclusion-
For now, check out Kristin Hannah’s book and the sequel Fly Away for inspiration for season three and beyond, as new footage is unlikely to appear until early in 2022.
According to the plot summary, the book is about: “All it takes for these ladies to embark on an emotional and life-changing journey of atonement is one sad choice and an unexpected phone call in the middle of the night. They’ve all gone astray and will need each other’s help — as well as a miracle — to get their lives back on track.”
