How Did Tom Browning Die?
Tom Browning was a famous baseball player who helped the Reds win a major league title and pitched the team’s only perfect game in 1988. He died on December 19, 2022.
He was sixty-two years old. As soon as Tom died, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office wrote about it on Twitter. He passed away at his home in Union, Kentucky. The Reds posted on Twitter soon after the famous baseball player died. Prior to releasing the statement, they also talked to a family member.
The club said, “The entire Reds family is stunned and deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Tom Browning. Affectionately referred to as ‘Mr. Perfect,’ Tom was a true Red who after his playing days made the Cincinnati area his home and remained heavily involved with the organization.”

The sheriff’s office in Tom’s home county of Boone says they don’t believe anyone hurt him. On December 19, around 1 p.m., Tom was found at his home in Union, Ky. People tried to save him but they couldn’t because he wasn’t breathing. It was said that he was dead at 1:13 p.m.

Additionally, Jim Bowden shared a tribute and wrote, “RIP Tom Browning. He had the best 84-86 mph high spin rate 4-seam fastball at the top of the zone of any LH pitcher of his era. He threw a perfect game, won a World Championship, sat in the Wrigley Field stands during a #Reds game & took part himself during his own contract negotiations.”

Tom started playing in 1984 and stopped because he broke his arm while playing for the Reds in 1994. After only two games, he broke his arm again and had to quit. The next year, he tried to come back with the Royals. Our thoughts are with Tom’s family and friends during this hard time.
