On Friday, June 2, attendees of Phoenix Fan Fusion 2023 gave actor Jeremy Renner a standing ovation as he arrived on stage with a cane and took a seat for his panel discussion.
It’s been five months since the actor was critically injured with acute chest trauma and more than 30 fractured bones after being run over by a snowplow weighing more than 14,000 pounds outside his Nevada home. Renner started the discussion by discussing what had happened.
“Under the snowplow, it’s a different view,” he said. “But you know, no harm no foul, essentially. I’m coming back stronger.”
He’s been in recovery since the accident on Jan. 1, he said, drawing loud applause after saying, “It’s glorious to be full of love and titanium.”
Here’s everything to know about the actor’s snowplow accident, including his current health status.
Jeremy Renner Accident of 2023, January 1
Deadline reported on New Year’s Day that Renner had been in a snowplow accident, but little specifics were available. After the incident, he was taken by helicopter to the hospital, according to local police.
“Upon arrival, Deputies coordinated with Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District and REMSA Health to arrange for medical transport of Mr. Jeremy Renner via care flight to a local area hospital,” the statement said.
After what they first called a “weather-related accident” involving a snowplow, his rep subsequently said the actor was in “critical but stable condition with injuries.”
Washoe County Sheriff’s Office deputies “responded to a traumatic injury in the area of Mt. Rose Highway in Reno, Nevada” at 9:00 a.m. on January 1. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office Major Accident Investigation Team is continuing its investigation, and they have established that Renner was the only individual involved.

Jeremy Renner Accident Update
A full recovery is possible for Jeremy Renner. The Hawkeye actor had a “tragic accident” on New Year’s Day when he was helping a relative free their car from the estimated three feet of snow that had fallen overnight.
The event occurred on January 1 in the early morning hours along Mt. Rose Highway in Reno, Nevada. At 9 a.m., the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office was called to the site, and a press release stated that Renner was brought to the hospital “in critical but stable condition.” The next day, he had surgery, and reports say he is “receiving excellent care” and is surrounded by relatives.
Renner finally spoke up about the snowplow accident two days after it happened. He updated his social media with a heartfelt “thank you” to his devoted following. Renner has made great progress in his healing since then. In fact, the actor intends to be present for the April 11, 2023, Los Angeles premiere of his new Disney+ reality series, Rennervations.
Renner updated his Instagram followers on his progress with a shot of himself in bed, presumably during physical therapy. According to the caption, he saw only the bright side of things.

“Morning workouts, resolutions all changed this particular new years …. Spawned from tragedy for my entire family, and quickly focused into uniting actionable love ❤️” he wrote.
The Mayor of Kingstown star then said that he wanted “to thank EVERYONE for their messages and thoughtfulness for my family and I …. Much love and appreciation to you all.”
“These 30 plus broken bones will mend , grow stronger, just like the love and bond with family and friends deepens,” Renner concluded. “Love and blessings to you all .”
Jeremy Renner, How Are You Doing Right Now?
Renner stated that Fan Fusion, which took place at the Phoenix Convention Center, was the actor’s first significant public appearance after the accident, and that he felt “blessed and happy” about it.
“Everything is more wonderfully sensitive” now, he said. “The coffee’s stronger. Everything is just more intense since the accident. I’m not sure why, but it’s pretty killer because everything is just that much better. And being here is one of those things.”
When asked by a fan when we may see him again, Renner said he doesn’t want us to think that this is it for him professionally.
“I’m not going anywhere,” he said. “My priorities have always been the same. They’ve been to my daughter and whatever my daughter allows me to do.”
Renner’s statement that his daughter is 10 years old. Renner has been quoted as saying, “Just ask my daughter if it’s OK if Daddy goes and does this thing.” while speaking with his agents. Renner remarked how enthusiastic he was about his job.
“If Marvel wants me back in the MCU, rocking that out, I’d do it in a heartbeat. I love those guys.”
When will Jeremy Renner return to ‘Mayor of Kingstown’?
While he recovers, he plans to reprise his role as the titular mayor in “Mayor of Kingstown” “as soon as these legs or hopefully my whole body is strong enough to stand up all day long.” After trying to stand up for pictures at Fan Fusion, he eventually sat down.

“That’s very telling of me and my physical health, how far I still have to work this summer to get back to filming on camera. Those are 18-hour days, you’ve got to realize.”
At one point, a fan asked, “What’s the most exciting thing that you’re ready to work on?” Without missing a beat, he quipped “stretching.”
But the accident wasn’t the only topic of conversation. While shooting “Wind River” (which he called “a very special film for me”), Renner commuted to set on a snowmobile. When filming his first MCU film as Hawkeye, he wondered, “I don’t know how you’re gonna put Fabio in the air with a hammer.”
He was genuine and open and humorous and just plain normal, and he kept returning to his obvious love for and inability to pick up his little daughter as a topic of discussion. Renner never gave the impression of being a victim.
“I get to play make believe for a living,” he said. “I feel very blessed.”
