The plaintiffs are former dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez. We’ve reached out to Lizzo and the others implicated for their thoughts.
A complaint was filed in Los Angeles alleging that dancers were “pressured into participating in disturbing s*x shows” and “forced to endure se*ually denigrating behavior” between 2021 and 2023.
The allegations against Melissa Viviane Jefferson, better known as Lizzo, state that the latter “pressured Ms. Davis to touch the breasts” of a performer at an Amsterdam nightclub and that after initially refusing, Davis gave in “fearing it may harm her future on the team” if she didn’t comply.
On her recent tour, dance choreographer Tanisha Scott and the body positivity advocate Lizzo have been accused of weight-shaming Ms. Davis. In her case, Ms. Davis claims that two individuals questioned her commitment to her work on the dancing troupe because she “seemed less committed to something.”
Though never explicitly stated, the questions “gave Ms. Davis the impression that she needed to explain her weight gain and disclose intimate personal details about her life to keep her job,” the lawsuit says.
The complaint also claims that the dance team leader, Shirlene Quigley, made it known that she disapproved of premarital s*x and forced her Christian views on the performers. She is also accused of posting on social media about the fact that one of the former dancers was a virgin.
Production business Big Grrrl Big Touring, Inc. has been accused of racial discrimination, among other things. It claims that some of the dancers on the squad were “treated differently” because of their race.
The complaint alleged that these stereotypes were used “to disparage and discourage” black women and that other dancers were not treated the same way. During some of Lizzo’s European tour stops, the plaintiffs claim they were underpaid by the singer and her production crew.
They allege they were advised not to work on other projects while on tour and that they were only granted 25% of their weekly compensating compensation for the period they were not performing on time, while other performers earned 50%.

According to the complaint, Ms. Davis and Ms. Williams, two of the three plaintiff dancers, met Lizzo in March 2021 while preparing to participate in Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls.
Ms. Rodriguez, the third, was cast in late May 2021 for Lizzo’s Rumours music video. It goes on to say that she never left the dancing company after that. After hearing about the alleged harassment of her coworkers, Ms. Rodriguez resigned from the dance team, joining Ms. Davis and Ms. Williams in their dismissal.
