The divorce between Thomas Middleditch and his ex-wife Mollie Gates has been completed, over a year after they first filed for divorce.
According to a copy of the divorce judgement acquired by PEOPLE, the Silicon Valley actor was ordered to pay Gates, a costume designer, $2.625 million, which would be collected in instalments until December 2022, according to the judgement.
The filings also state that Gates, 33, will not get spousal support from Middleditch, 39, but that she will retain all of the items she had before to the couple’s divorce in August of last year. Two mansions in Los Angeles, as well as a home in Big Bear, California, and a second property in his birthplace of Nelson, British Columbia, in Canada, will remain in Middleditch’s possession.
A representative for Middleditch did not reply to a request for comment from PEOPLE.
According to a recent court decision, the couple formalised their divorce on April 8, 2020, after Gates’ filing in May 2020. A source close to the couple told PEOPLE at the time of their breakup that “they still care passionately for one other and will go ahead as friends.”
The announcement of the payment comes after claims of sexual misconduct against Middleditch. Hannah Harding, a 21-year-old club-goer, claims that Middleditch made “lewd sexual attempts” toward her and her partner in an investigation published in March by the Los Angeles Times about the closed Hollywood club Cloak & Dagger. There have been no charges filed, either criminal or civil, and Middleditch has not replied publicly to the allegations.
According to Harding, she and her partner were approached by Middleditch on the dance floor of the club on October 22, 2019, and they refused to leave. At the time, the B Positive actress and Gates were engaged in an open marriage.
Following her refusal, Harding said that Middleditch pursued her and grabbed her in front of many club workers, including the club’s operations manager, Kate Morgan. Middleditch has denied the allegations.
In an interview with the New York Times, Morgan said that she had requested that Middleditch be asked to leave the club by her supervisors, co-founders Adam Bravin and Michael Patterson, but believed that her request had been ignored.
In an interview with the Times, Harding said that she saw Middleditch grope another lady in the club after she complained about the event that involved herself. Bravin subsequently contacted Harding about her concern, and she claims that Harding responded by telling her that she must have been mistaken.
