Olivia Rodrigo and her boyfriend Adam Faze have decided to discontinue their relationship.
The “Drivers License” singer, 18, and the music video producer, 24, have split, according to a source. They were first seen spending time together seven months ago.
“They’ve been here for a while,” the source claims. Faze shared a few images from his life in New York, where he’s been based this month, on Wednesday.
Rodrigo’s publicist has declined to respond to PEOPLE.
Rodrigo and Faze fueled relationship speculations this summer when they were seen cuddling up to one another and holding hands at the Space Jam 2 premiere in California. Rodrigo directed Goody Grace’s “Nothing Good” music video and founded a production company, Must B Nice, last year.
Faze told PEOPLE in June that she was “a lot happier now” than when she composed the lyrics to her hit debut album Sour.
“I’m just constantly learning and growing at such a rapid rate,” she said. “I’m writing songs and I’m really happy. I’m a lot happier than I was when I wrote that record, which is great.”
“I’m a lot more confident, which I think is a good aspect of growing up,” she added. “We’ll see what the next era brings, but I’m excited to start working on it.”
Rodrigo’s career took off after she released the song “Drivers License” in January 2021. As fans dissected the lyrics of her viral heartache ballad, the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star’s love life — most notably a purported love triangle with her costar Joshua Bassett and singer Sabrina Carpenter — was pushed into the spotlight.
Rodrigo told PEOPLE that after her crazy year, she’d been making a conscious effort to slow down and enjoy slower days with her friends.
“I’m prone to become burned out and weary. And I find it quite difficult to remain motivated and create something that I enjoy when I’m burned out as an artist “she stated “As a result, taking time off has been critical. And my coworkers have been fantastic about giving me breaks and allowing me to relax when I need it.”
“I enjoy spending time alone. That’s the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen “she continued. “However, I enjoy spending time with my pals. That seems to be very refreshing to me. And I enjoy talking about topics that aren’t related to music or the industry.”
Our Thoughts!
Rodrigo’s most recent breakup news arrives just as her career is about to take off. She’ll be nominated for seven Grammy Awards at this year’s ceremony on April 3, and she’ll embark off a global tour in support of Sour two days later.
Rodrigo will be honored as the 2022 Billboard Woman of the Year at the annual Billboard Women in Music Awards next month, as well as releasing a new documentary on Sour called Driving Home 2 U on Disney+.
