Only Murders in the Building premiered on Hulu in the fall of 2021 and quickly became one of the streaming service’s most popular comedies. New Yorkers Steve Martin and John Hoffman (Looking, Grace and Frankie) co-created the show, which follows the unlikely friendship of three lonely New Yorkers who live in the same Upper West Side building and come together to create a podcast and solve a murder when another one of the neighbours mysteriously falls to his or her death. True crime, comedy, and some nice chemistry between the leads made it popular (and made many people envious that they couldn’t also solve mysteries alongside Charles, Mabel, and Oliver).
It was revealed after Season 1’s conclusion that Tim Kono’s (Julian Cihi) death isn’t the only murder in the building, which left viewers with a huge cliffhanger. After finding Bunny’s (Jayne Houdyshell) body, Mabel looks to have blood on her hands—because she was the one who discovered the body. Season 2 of Only Murders in the Building is here, and we’ve got all the information you need to know about it.
Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Is Coming Or Not?
These three podcasters have no plans to put down their gear any time soon. As soon as Season 1 finished, Hulu immediately ordered a second season—an easy choice given the series’ critical success and the fact that it became “by a good measure” the streaming service’s most-watched comedy ever.
Karey Burke, the president of 20th Television, which produces the show, said of the renewal, “It’s a great honor.” “Every executive at this studio has been obsessed with the humor this team has produced, and our friends at Hulu have treated it like the crown gem that it is. Because of the overwhelmingly positive response, we can now confidently predict that the Arconia will be the scene of further murders in the near future.”

Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Release Date
As Brazzos, we’d guess the next season of Only Murders will be published in 2022 if we were studying the release date. As of January 2022, it appears like a section of the new season has already been filmed, based on statements from the stars. Martin Short informed Deadline that production on the first two episodes had already been completed and that work on the second two was presently ongoing when he was nominated for a SAG Award in early January.
For the rest of the winter, the program appears to be filming and will wind up in the spring. Fans of Mabel’s faux-fur jackets are likely in for another terrific season with a mid-to late-2022 release date.
Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Cast
As a stand-in for the main comedy trio, what would Only Murders be without their presence in the show? It’s safe to say that Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez will all be back in their roles as Charles-Haden Savage, Oliver Putnam, and Mabel Mora, respectively. Aside from them, it appears Aaron Dominguez and Da’Vine Joy Randolph, who play Mabel’s friends Oscar and Detective Williams, will return to their respective roles in the upcoming film.
Even if Teddy (Nathan Lane) and Theo Dimas (James Caverly) are in danger of killing Zoe (Olivia Reis) and pinning the murder on Oscar, they’ll return as well. Showrunner John Hoffman confirmed this to Elle.
There is a chance we may never see Bunny again after she was killed off in Season 1. Hoffman hinted to a return to Entertainment Weekly, despite the fact that she’s “absolutely six feet under.” Jane Houdyshell, who portrays the cantankerous Upper West Sider, was assured by him that she would still be a part of the production despite being a victim. The murder of Bunny will need more than a few Bunny flashbacks.
There are so many people living in the Arconia apartment complex that it appears as we’ve only met a fraction of them. Now that another person who lives down the hall from them has been slain, we’re certain to encounter even more worried, inquisitive neighbors in the future.
In December 2021, the first formal announcement of a new character was made. Cara Delevingne (Carnival Row, Her Smell) has been cast as Alice, a “sophisticated art-world insider who becomes entangled in the mystery,” according to Deadline.com. In Season 2, we can anticipate her to have an important role as a regular, but like with everyone else on the program, we’re keeping an eye on her!!
Shirley MacLaine and Amy Schumer are among the possible possibilities. In an interview, Short confirmed that the two are on the guest list. As their roles in the film have yet to be revealed, it’s unclear if they’ll be bad guys. The cameos they’ll appear in are likely to be amusing, though.
In any case, you should expect to run across a few individuals who were close to Bunny, whether it’s Delevigne as Alice or MacLaine and Schumer as characters. When asked about the case surrounding Bunny, Hoffman said, “There will be some new characters, suspects, and individuals around the world of Bunny, as well as new people around Bunny’s world of the building” Bunny may have been involved in some sort of illicit activity, but as the three investigate her murder, they’re likely to meet some interesting folks who may have something to hide.

Only Murders in the Building Season 2 Plotline
Who killed Bunny? has replaced Who killed Tim Kono? as the most pressing topic in Season 1.
Season 2 will focus on the investigation into Bunny’s death, but with our cherished friends at the core of the probe, we’re in for a larger chapter that extends beyond the Arconia. A greater amount of attention is expected to be paid to the three members. After becoming tiny podcast stars before, they’re now the topic of an even greater podcast luminary’s newest. Because of how guilty she appears, Mabel is expected to be the focus of attention more than her older pals, so it’s possible that we’ll see her in the press or in jail as Charles and Oliver continue their investigation.
You shouldn’t expect too much of a departure from the Arconia even if the show’s scope broadens. As a matter of fact, the show’s purpose is to shed light on the institution itself. This season’s plot will focus on the building’s history and how two resident killings have affected its real-estate value, according to Hoffman. Season 2 and Canning’s Only Murderers in the Building podcast may not be completely apparent, but they’re guaranteed to be entertaining and delightful.
