Resident Alien Season 2 Ending Explained
SyFy’s Resident Alien’s second season wrapped up last week, and there’s a lot to digest until the next batch of episodes airs this summer. To follow Harry’s (Alan Tudyk) mental/internal transformation into a multi-species entity, this batch delivered eight episodes. That is to say, he has had ample opportunity to experience “all the feels” throughout his stay on Earth.
Compassion and friendship have changed him for the first time in his entire life and have even shifted the way he thinks about humanity. We discovered in the previous episode that dialing his people isn’t going to be a piece of cake. Let’s go back in time a bit. Harry and Asta (Sara Tomko) remained in New York at the end of Episode 7 as they searched for the artist known as Goliath (David Bianchi).
Harry’s sole hope of contacting his people may be Goliath, who is actually an extraterrestrial of the same species as Harry, as the intergalactic communicator has been destroyed. While Goliath is dead, Harry and Asta discover that he left behind a human-and-alien offspring egg. Harry and Asta, pursued by enigmatic agents (who are eventually dispatched by Harry), board a train and return to Colorado with the egg in tow. We’re finally ready for the climax.
As soon as she meets with her spy, David Logan, we find that General Eleanor Wright (Linda Hamilton) has agreed to return her spy’s body in exchange for the information he has provided her regarding the extraterrestrial and its egg (Alex Barima). After David is shot dead, Wright is forced to flee for her life. The sharpshooter is revealed to be an extraterrestrial, not a soldier!
A little time later, everyone from town/the performance has gathered at Harry’s cabin for an unexpected birthday party. Ben (Levi Fiehler) put everything up with the goal of allowing Dr. Smith to reclaim his medical status. In this cabin, we see most of the rest of the program. Harry makes his way downstairs to the basement to bury the egg because he doesn’t think he’ll be able to get out of this one easily.
Without anybody else knowing about this unique predicament, they’re attempting to get through this party unharmed. This, of course, will not happen. There was no sign of the alien infant after all when Harry went to buy some ice. As a result, there’s a lot of dysfunctional family drama going on during the party. Ben has noticed a change in the behavior of his wife Kate (Merideth Garretson).
Possibly due to the fact that she is pregnant? It’s not just that, though, as she explains to D’Arcy (Alice Wetterlund). Aside from that, she’s dissatisfied with her life in this sleepy little town. Suddenly, Harry spots the monster perched atop a tree while hunting for the infant. A telekinetic “virtual reality” connection is made between Harry and the infant who climbs on his head.
Goliath appears to Harry in disguise, and he warns him of what he sees. In this world, he assures him, that there are other aliens as well. However, there is an even more lethal kind. Goliath goes on to say that Harry’s alien race has no intention of visiting Earth because of this extraterrestrial race. As Harry is shot in the chest and Goliath, the infant, dives into the water, the dialogue comes to an abrupt end.
On the other side of the door is the person who shot Harry. The alien sniper from earlier in the episode has returned. Just as the alien is about to shoot Harry with his gun, Asta, brandishing a shotgun, snuffs him out. As D’Arcy comes on the scene, he is absolutely terrified and unsure of what is happening.
