“Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” a 1967 comedy-drama directed by Stanley Kramer and starring Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn, is one of Sidney Poitier’s most beloved films. Prentice is a widower who falls in love with Hepburn’s character while vacationing in Hawaii. Poitier plays him. While Joanna Drayton, played by Audrey Hepburn, invites Dr. John back to San Francisco to meet her family, the reaction is mixed. “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner” was banned in 17 states after its first release due to its depiction of an interracial marriage.
