And he said, “I think that it is a reductive negotiating tactic, and I find the entire thing incredibly frustrating.”
Adding, “And I think that the thinking pertains to shows like the show that I’m on that premiered last night,” he said, alluding to his new series “Heels.” Those views seem narrow to me.
On Tuesday, Amell sent a message on Instagram to elaborate on his first comments.

“Understandably, there has been a lot of reaction to the comments I made this weekend about our strike,” his post began. “To ensure there is no misunderstanding about my thoughts and intentions I’m providing what I said and clarity/context to ensure my feelings aren’t unintentionally misinterpreted. We all know soundbites can be taken out of context and I have too much respect for my fellow union members not to clarify the record.”
Amell continued by elaborating on his position on the strike:

“I get the general idea of why we’re here. I stand with my union, but my off-the-cuff use of the word support belies my actual views and my unequivocal stance,” he added. Obviously, I wouldn’t say I like hitting. It’s never done. Still, we have to make the most of a bad situation.”
Amell remarked, “I emote, but I certainly don’t think these issues are simple,” in response to criticism he had made of the strike as a “reductive negotiating tactic” that had frustrated him.
