The release date for Ted Lasso season 3 was announced back in October 2020, but we haven’t heard anything yet.
An American football coach hired to manage a professional soccer team in England despite his complete lack of knowledge of the sport, the series has become a cult favorite.
One of the series’ most popular characters, Coach, is played by Emmy Award-winner Jason Sudeikis. With a former friend as a new adversary, Ted may be in for his biggest test yet (more on that in a bit).
AFC Richmond has returned to the Premier League after finishing second in the National League 2 last season. They had an entirely different struggle in the lower level and made it their aim to come back on top.
However, what can we expect from season three of Ted Lasso? So far, this is all we have to go on.
Ted Lasso Season 3 Plot
Despite their promotion to the Premier League, AFC Richmond had a number of personal problems at the season’s end. Where are we now? Rupert Beckham’s ex-husband now owns West Ham United and enraged Nate decided to join him there after feeling unappreciated by his wife (Anthony Head).

I’d like to see a redemption arc for Nate, although I don’t know whether the public expects that, which would be good. That said, it’s possible the writers will decide to “flip everything on its head,” as they did in season two, so he may be the only character who isn’t redeemed by the end of the season.
Whatever the outcome, he’ll be up against his old teammates, who aren’t in the best of shape.
After a romance with a young player, Sam, who turned down a major opportunity at another club to stay with AFC Richmond, albeit not for her, Rebecca is feeling conflicted.
With Roy and Keeley on the cusp of a breakup, Keeley is worried that Roy’s business mogul girlfriend would grow tired of him and move on. A six-week vacation had been planned by Roy, but he was devastated when she said no since she had to focus on starting her new business. Ted Lasso Season 3 Cast
All of the actors, including Jason Sudeikis as Ted, are almost certainly returning for the upcoming season. Evidently.
On his side, as Coach beards are the show’s co-creator Brendan Hunt and self-hating Coach Nate (Nick Mohammed), who will have to return.
We can also infer that Hannah Waddingham will reprise her role as AFC Richmond’s owner, Rebecca Welton.
Additionally, Juno Temple is expected to reprise her role as Keeley Jones opposite Brett Goldstein’s Roy Kent and Leslie Higgins’ director of communications, Jeremy Swift.
Ted Lasso season 3 potential release date:
For Ted Lasso season three, Apple has yet to announce a release date, as was the case with season two. However, if the past seasons are any indication, we may expect the third installment to appear in the summer of 2022. Rebecca’s actress Hannah Waddingham announced that filming for the next season began on February 14th.
“We’ll start in February,” Brendan Hunt said, according to The Daily Mail (via Twitter). He also revealed when they want to wrap things up. It’ll be a lot of work, but we’re on track to be done in July. The first season premiered on Apple TV+ in August 2020, followed by the second in July 2021.
We were hoping for additional episodes to air around the same time, but Hunt told TV Line that “we are definitely starting later this year than in season 2, that’s for sure. My guess is that our delivery dates aren’t going to be the same… It’s improbable that we’ll premiere as early as this year. If we’re going to try and get it right, it will take longer than anyone expects. But we’ll try,” he said.
Will Ted Lasso Season 3 Be the Show’s Last
Ted Lasso was always planned to be three seasons long, according to Sudeikis, even though there is some room for a fourth.
When he spoke to Entertainment Weekly, “I see, know, and understand the three-season plot arc,” he explained. “Because they’re willing to pay for those three seasons, I’m glad. It’s impossible to say what will happen afterward. “I don’t know.”
Hunt concurred, and he added: “Seasons one, two, and three are, I believe, always the plan. We should adhere to our guns and just produce three seasons of this show, no matter how popular it is.”
