The Afterparty Season 2: Afterparty hostess Tiffany Haddish can do as she pleases because it’s her party. With Apple TV Plus picking up a second season of The Afterparty, fans can look forward to more comedic murder mysteries. Haddish has confirmed that she will return as Detective Danner, but the rest of the cast of The Afterparty remains unknown. Sam Richardson and Zoe Chao will be back, which is great news. When it comes to fresh blood, Ken Jeong has joined in on the action.
Christopher Miller conceived and directed the series, and he and Phil Lord serve as executive producers. The first episode of Season 1 takes place during a murder investigation at a high school reunion afterparty. Episodes take on a variety of forms, from psychological thriller to musical to animated, and are told from the perspective of a different character each time.
A murder at a wedding will be the focus of Season 2’s main plot. Knives Out 2 (including the return of Daniel Craig as Detective Benoit Blanc) and White Lotus season 2 share the anthology format (only Jennifer Coolidge returns from the original cast). It’s been speculated that the second season of The Afterparty would premiere in the fall of 2018.

The Afterparty Season 2 Release Date
Apple TV Plus has not set The Afterparty season 2 release date yet. Considering that the streaming service only renewed the show on March 2, production on season 2 may not begin for some time. Miller and Lord, the production team that they make up, have a tonne on their plates. They have many movies in the works, including a remake of Clone High and Project Hail Mary starring Ryan Gosling, as well as the upcoming sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, set for release in December.
It could be months before season 2 of The Afterparty is ready to film, even if someone else takes over showrunning duties and Miller steps down as director. We estimate that the second season will launch in the latter half of 2023.
The Afterparty Season 2 Cast
Detective Danner, played by Tiffany Haddish in the first season, returns for the second. Sam Richardson, who plays Aniq, and Zoe Chao, who plays Zoe, are both regulars. Ike Barinholtz’s Brett, Ilana Glazer’s Chelsea, Jamie Demetriou’s Walt, John Early’s Detective Culp, and Reid Scott’s Detective Germain are all names that have been bandied around as possible returnees.
Ben Schwartz, who formerly played Yasper, is the least likely remaining cast member to return. While it’s less probable that Dave Franco’s Xavier, the murder victim, will return for a second season, we might get a glimpse of him in his music videos. Elizabeth Perkins, Zach Woods, Paul Walter Hauser, Poppy Liu, Anna Konkle, Jack Whitehall, and Vivian Wu are among the new cast members appearing in Season 2.

The Afterparty Season 2 Plot & Season 1 Ending
Season 2 of The Afterparty will feature Danner solving a new crime at a wedding reception. And now that Aniq and Zoe are involved, the wedding could be theirs. After all, they did make out at the end of Season 1. In the last episode, titled “Maggie,” the viewer was treated to an appearance by Zoe and Brett’s daughter, the show’s namesake.
The girl told Danner about her night, during which she saw Jennifer #2 wet herself and drew a cat face on Aniq (her water broke, so she went to the hospital). In light of Maggie’s description, Danner claims to have the killer pegged. One of Aniq, Brett, or Walt. However, Walt was already plotting his streaking exploits in the restroom.
Aniq finally steps out and admits that he witnessed Brett in the driveway right before the murder. Aniq, finally prepared to face the music, remembers that the closet was always locked in previous retellings of the narrative. Yet when he checked the drawings on his face, he found that they were exposed. There was something hidden in there, and it turned out to be Yasper.
He resented Xavier for being well-known and for not endorsing Yasper’s music. To exact his vengeance, he murdered Xavier, stole the song, and then released it as a duet after Xavier’s death. Yasper claims that their text messages show that they were buddies, but Danner points out that the A/V technician could have easily gotten the dead pop star’s password.
Aniq concludes that Yasper may have erased the surveillance tape by using Xavier’s phone. Because Yasper’s phone was in his pocket, he got caught. Danner boasts to her captain and her archenemy, Detective Germain, about her success. Aniq and Zoe, meantime, leave the house to eat breakfast on their own. When she stops by the side of the road, she inquires as to when he plans to take action.
They’re in the middle of a passionate kiss when Walt comes over and asks politely if he may get a ride home. This celebration is certainly finished now that the case has been resolved and Yasper appears to be headed for prison. Danner, though, has another one waiting for him as the sound of wedding bells gives way to the sound of police sirens.
Is The Afterparty a true story?
