The release of Frostpunk 2 has been delayed to September 20. The game, a sequel to the popular city-building survival game, was originally set for an earlier release. The developers, 11 Bit Studios, decided to postpone it to ensure the game is polished and meets fans’ expectations. Frostpunk 2 will continue to combine city management with tough moral choices in a challenging, frozen world.
The Frostpunk 2 Release Delayed To September 20
The release date for Frostpunk 2 is still set for 2024, with a slight delay of a couple of months. This city-building and strategy game with a grim survival theme has generated excitement, especially with its new, deeper political elements, as noted in our Frostpunk 2 preview. It could potentially be one of the best games of the year. According to 11-bit Studios, this brief delay will help enhance the game.
The new release date for Frostpunk 2 is now Friday, September 20, 2024, just two months later than initially planned. This change comes in response to feedback from the game’s open beta.

“From the surveys after the beta, the average rating was 8 out of 10,” explained 11-bit studios. “We appreciate that, but it was only a small part of a developing game. The feedback helped us identify what worked well and what needed improvement.
“This insight allowed us to better prioritize features and modifications we were already working on. We also realized more time was needed to ensure the best experience at launch, leading to the decision to delay the release.”
I’d prefer to wait longer for a fully polished game than play something released prematurely. Frostpunk 2 is still coming soon, and hopefully, it will be even better than expected.
