Miley Cyrus officially began her new musical period tonight with the release of “Flowers,” the lead track from her upcoming album Endless Summer Vacation (out March 10).
There, her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth began celebrating his birthday. Given the song’s “I can love me better, baby” slogan and the fact that it was released on Hemsworth’s 33rd birthday, fans have assumed, based on the lyrics, that it may be about her life after the actor and she split up.
In the whole song, Cyrus seems to make lyrical references to the Woolsey fire, which caused their Malibu home to burn down (“We were right ’til we weren’t / Built a home and watched it burn”), as well as their arguments that made her realize this relationship wouldn’t work (“I didn’t want to leave you, baby / I didn’t want to fight”).
