A guilty plea and a long prison sentence concluded a devastating incident in South Carolina. Jamie Lee Komoroski pleaded guilty to driving under the influence in a collision that took the life of Samantha Miller, a newlywed bride still wearing her wedding dress. In April 2023, this tragic accident shattered the lives of several families.
It occurred at Folly Beach, while Miller and her husband, Aric Hutchinson, were taking a golf cart ride back to their accommodation after their wedding celebration. The cart that was carrying two of Hutchinson’s relatives was struck by the car driven by Komoroski. He was running 65 mph in a 25 mph zone.
Details of Fatal Collision
According to authorities, Komoroski had been drinking in several bars before getting behind the wheel the night of the accident. A subsequent blood test indicated her blood alcohol level was three times over the legal limit. At the outset, when police pulled her over, she refused to give officers a breath sample.
The crash killed Samantha Miller and left Aric Hutchinson with broken bones and a traumatic brain injury. His brother-in-law, who was driving the golf cart, and another family member were injured, too.
