Canadian basketball player Zach Edey, currently with the Big Ten’s Purdue Boilermakers, was born on May 14, 2002. He would be the tallest player in Big Ten history at 7 feet, 4 inches (2.24 meters). Edey moved to the United States and attended IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. In his first season, he made their B team and started working out regularly with IMG coach and ex-NBA player Daniel Santiago.
Edey was promoted to the varsity team the following year. He was able to play college basketball for Purdue despite interest from schools such as Santa Clara and Baylor in the 2020 class. By most accounts, he was a solid third-tier prospect.
