What happened to Gian Piero Ventrone?
Former Tottenham Hotspur FC fitness coach Gian Piero Ventrone, 61, passed away in March. It wasn’t until November of 2021 that he finally became a member. His rigorous workouts earned him the moniker “The Marine.” During a preseason trip to Seoul, Ventrone made headlines by forcing the Spurs team to practise through a hard session in 30C heat, leaving several players slumped on the field.
Previously, Ventrone played for Juventus twice, both of which were rather short, before joining Tottenham Hotspur. Between the years 1994 and 1999, he served as the fitness trainer for Marcello Lippi’s dominant squad. In 2001, he came back to the club and stayed there until 2004.
When Italy won the 2006 World Cup, Ventrone was a part of Lippi’s coaching staff. He has previously trained Chinese clubs Jiangsu Suning and Guangzhou Evergrande and served as an assistant manager at French club Ajaccio. Throughout the world, he was held in the highest esteem.

Gian Piero Ventrone passed away from leukaemia on Thursday, October 5, 2022. Age-wise, he was 61. Ventrone had leukaemia for a long time, but he kept it a secret and never let it affect his ability to do his job.
Ventrone passed away on Thursday morning, according to a heartbreaking statement from Tottenham. His family also provided information on the coach’s final rites and verified his passing via Instagram.
“My friendship with Gian Piero is really, really good. His English is certainly not flawless, as seen by the fact that he occasionally uses his phone to translate from Italian into English, according to Son Heung-Min, a South Korean actor who was close to him.
We are devastated to announce that fitness coach Gian Piero Ventrone has passed away.
He will be greatly missed by everyone at the Club and our thoughts are with his family and friends at this impossibly sad time.
