Along with asking that he and Love pay their own legal bills, Ray J, who is being represented by well-known celebrity divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, also requested in the filing that spousal support for Love, 39, be decided upon at a later time.
On February 26, Love filed for divorce from the singer of “Sexy Can I.” On the same day, she announced the split on Instagram with a long statement.
She said, “Dear Friends and Family, it is with heavy hearts that we share the news of our decision to divorce. After much reflection, discussion, and counseling, we have come to the difficult realization that our paths have diverged, and it is in the best interest of both of us to part ways.”
Love went on, “We want to reassure you that this decision was made thoughtfully and with mutual respect and consideration for each other’s well-being. While our relationship as spouses may be coming to an end, we remain committed to co-parenting our children and maintaining a positive and supportive family dynamic.”
The Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood star expressed that although “this chapter” in their lives is coming to an end, they are excited to “adopt the opportunities for growth, healing, and new beginnings that lie ahead.”
She remarked, “We are confident that we will navigate this transition with grace and resilience with time, understanding, and the support of our loved ones. Thank you for your understanding and support.”
After dating for four years, the now-divorced couple were married in August 2016. In May 2018, their daughter Melody was welcomed, and in January 2020, their son Epik. In May 2020, Love initially filed for divorce from the singer; however, two months later, she requested to have it dismissed.
That same year, in September, Ray J filed for divorce. One year after Love claimed Ray J had left her and Melody “stranded” in Las Vegas following the BET Soul Train Awards, the couple’s breakup was announced.
