As if this weren’t enough, When Calls the Heart is returning on TV!
As ET has learned exclusively, the much-loved Hallmark Channel drama will return on Sunday, March 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT for Season 9. In addition, there’s an added bonus: There will be a total of 12 brand-new episodes. It’s a precedent that was established in season 8 when the long-running series was increased from its usual 10-episode schedule.
This new season of Hope Valley, which Hallmark claims will be filled with “romance, conflict, and friendship,” will begin where season 8 ended. Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) chose Lucas (Chris McNally) over Nathan (Kevin McGarry), Rosemary (Pascale Hutton) and Lee (Kavan Smith) found new job interests, and Angela Canfield (Vienna Leacock) gained the backing of her schoolmates to successfully enrol in Mrs. Thornton’s class.
According to ET’s sources, “Hope Valley is growing, as is the foundry and the development of important partnerships.
Several residents of the town are competing for the mayor’s office, which is creating a stir around the community. Rather than just courting, Elizabeth and Lucas work on building a deeper connection, and as she comes to know Lucas better, she begins to have doubts about their future together.
The town looks to be on the verge of a big commotion in the season 9 exclusive photograph. What’s going on in the town centre has Faith, Nathan, Elizabeth, and Little Jack — plus a few others — all taken aback. Faith and Elizabeth, in particular, are startled. Could it be that Mr. Bouchard has something sneaky planned?
Mei Suo, a stunning newcomer, is one of the town’s newcomers.
“Amanda Wong’s character is powerful and bright, loves animals, and is incredibly passionate,” says the actor behind the part. In addition, the teaser footage shows that Nathan has the possibility for a relationship.
Little Jack (Elizabeth’s son) was formerly portrayed by twins Lincoln and Gunnar Taylor, who will now be joined by Vancouver-based actor Hyland Goodrich. ET was the first to break the news of Goodrich’s casting and to share the first shot of him on set with Lucas and his on-screen mom.
According to Krakow, who is also an executive producer on the long-running sitcom, “Hyland has brought so much pleasure and humour to Hope Valley. A natural performer in front of the camera, we couldn’t stop laughing at his impromptu antics. As a fan of Hyland’s performance, we can’t wait for the Hearties to fall in love with him, too.”
It’s safe to say that ET will be covering WCTH throughout season 9 with numerous exclusives, video, and interviews! Our first interview with Krakow and McNally and McGarry came shortly after the season 8 finale, when we discussed what’s in store for our favourite schoolteacher, saloon owner, and town Mountie.
