In Elkhart, Indiana, Shawn Kemp was born on November 26, 1969. Barbara Kemp is his mother’s name; his father’s name or other unknown facts. He received a scholarship to Concord High School because of his prodigious hoop skills. Afterward, he enrolled in the University of Kentucky, but after being expelled due to poor marks, he transferred to Trinity Valley College to finish his degree.

He signed a one-year contract with the Italian League’s Premiata Montegranaro on August 18, 2008. Before going back to Houston, he participated in three preseason games. Premiata Montegranaro soon terminated his contract after this.

Shawn Kemp was labeled “Reign man” by the end of his second season with the Sonics. At the FIBA World Championship in Toronto in 1994, he took home a gold medal for the American national team.
