After appearing on The Bachelorette, Josh Seiter sadly passed away. He was 36. Season 11 of the ABC dating program featuring Kaitlyn Bristowe’s quest for love included Seiter and aired in 2015.
The Chicago exotic dancer/law student was the first contestant to be eliminated. With a sorrowful heart, we relay the awful news of Joshua’s sudden demise,” Seiter’s family stated in a statement posted to his verified Instagram account.

Everyone who knew Joshua would agree that he shone like a beacon in a world becoming more dark. His courageous words and unyielding will made hundreds of others feel less alone in their darkest hours.
The statement continued, “Although our heartache at Joshua’s passing pains us beyond measure, we find comfort in knowing that he is finally at peace. We hope and pray that his spirit can continue to live on in the pictures and words on this page, which we will leave up for the time being. While we do that, we would kindly ask for privacy as we grieve.”

The statement concluded with a warning “for anybody experiencing mental health crisis” and a phone number to call for assistance, albeit the reason for death was not disclosed.
At age 21, Seiter disclosed openly that “depression and anxiety felt overwhelming.”
“The intrusive thoughts from my OCD built up over time and eventually caused me to go into a dissociative state of endless depression and anxiety leading to derealization and a psychotic break,” he shared on an Instagram post back in 2021. “I attempted suicide, was hospitalized, underwent electroshock therapy, and was re-hospitalized.”

According to Seiter, he’s “spent the last 11 years in therapy” and thinks everyone should get assistance because “you aren’t alone” and “there is hope, and there are resources and it does get better.”
They used to publish their photos together online, but now they’re gone. On Monday, Monica uploaded an old picture of herself and Seiter with the comment, “RIP my honey.”
