When reached for comment by PEOPLE, WTRFC did not directly respond. On September 2nd, while out on her morning jog in Memphis, Fletcher, a mother of two, was kidnapped and thrown into the trunk of a black SUV.
Two days after Fletcher went missing, Memphis police claimed recovered DNA matching Cleotha Abston Henderson’s on a pair of shoes found at the scene. Henderson, 38, was arrested and charged with exceptionally aggravated kidnapping and tampering with evidence.
Surveillance footage allegedly shows Abston Henderson spending over an hour cleaning the GMC Terrain SUV he is accused of using to kidnap Fletcher. His brother Mario reportedly informed authorities that he was “washing his clothes in the sink of the house” and “acting very strange.”
The next day, a body was discovered seven miles from the location where additional security footage showed Fletcher being taken. After further investigation, authorities revealed that Abston Henderson’s charges had been increased to those of first-degree murder and first-degree murder in the commission of kidnapping.
There has been no appeal from Abston Henderson so far. The public defender representing him has previously declined to comment to PEOPLE.
