One person has died, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, following a two-car car accident on Saturday morning. Niskayuna resident Rodney P. Hayes, 48, passed away from injuries he received in the collision.
According to police, the accident happened on Bendick Corners Road. Following an investigation, it was discovered that Hayes was riding a motorcycle north when he attempted to pass two other cars moving in the same way.
A third vehicle was turning left onto the Fulton Montgomery Community College campus at this precise moment. The turning car and the motorcycle crashed. After being taken to the Albany Medical Center, Hayes passed away from his injuries.
There are currently no charges or authorities filed against the motorist because they cooperated with police investigations. The airbag’s deployment resulted in minor injuries for the passengers. According to the police, the crash appears to have been caused by speed and unsafe passing.
