Paulie, Adrian’s older brother and Rocky Balboa’s love interest, was portrayed by Burt Young in the Rocky films. Paulie is a difficult person who can become enraged and aggressive for no apparent reason. He is furious, resentful, and jealous. Still, they are kind, loving, and dependable.
He can be Balboa’s biggest fan at times. As seen in Rocky V, he also manages to push his brother-in-law into financial ruin on multiple occasions. In 1976, Young was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actor for his performance as Apollo Creed, and he went on to star in six more Rocky films before his character was killed off. Burt Young, who played Paulie, Sylvester Stallone’s rough-hewn, mumbling cornerman, and brother-in-law, who was nominated for an Academy Award, has died. Young’s daughter, Anne Morea Steingieser, revealed to the New York Times on Wednesday (October 17) that her father had died on October 8 in Los Angeles. There is no context. He was 83.

Burt Young’s Acting
The success of Chinatown, Once Upon a Time in America, The Pope of Greenwich Village, and Last Exit to Brooklyn all featured Young in the role of a mobster or tough guy, thanks in large part to Young’s performance.
In comedies like Back to School, he played a character similar to Rodney Dangerfield’s driver and fixer and poked fun at that stereotype. Plus Mickey Blue Eyes, in which he played a crime boss opposite James Cann and Hugh Grant.
The films Convoy, Transamerica, New York, I Love You, and Win-Win all include him as well. Young’s television credits include shows like The Rockford Files and Miami Vice, as well as The Sopranos, where he arguably felt at home.
His role as Paulie in the Rocky films will live on in popular culture, even though he went on to have a long and varied career.
