He went missing on March 8, and it took about 13 days for search teams to find him. Riley had gone to Nashville for a party with his fraternity friends. They got worried when they couldn’t reach him by phone or social media.

Now, his family wants another autopsy to understand what happened. They miss Riley deeply and want to know the truth about his last moments.

The family of Riley Strain has ordered a second autopsy. They are hopeful that after Strain’s preliminary autopsy is finished, they may find more information that was possibly missed the first time, according to News outlets.

A family friend Chris Dingman said, “The family deserves more answers than we have … I think there’s somebody out there that knows what actually happened that night.”

On Saturday, officials said that Strain’s death continued to appear accidental with no foul play-related trauma. According to the police report, Dingman said, “The watch and the shirt were the only items found with him.”

The jeans, wallet, and cowboy boots that Strain was wearing the night he vanished were not discovered with him. The medical examiner also stated that Strain had no water in his lungs. That raises doubts about Strain’s survival when he dove into the water, according to Dingman.

Riley Strain’s Funeral

An online obituary describes Riley Strain as a young man with a vibrant spirit and loving nature, and those who knew him will remember him for that.

After completing his studies at Springfield’s Kickapoo High School, he enrolled at the University of Missouri Columbia to study business and financial planning.

Strain was able to secure an internship with the financial services company Northwestern Mutual because of his strong ambition. In addition, he volunteered at Wonders of Wildlife.

Riley’s obituary stated that “this commitment showcased his deep care for the community and the environment. Riley embraced outdoor adventures, whether it was hunting, fishing, or simply enjoying the serenity of the lake.”

Riley’s funeral is set to take place at Greenlawn Funeral Home in Springfield on Friday morning. The obituary notes that a private burial will take place at a later time.

The Strain family has requested that instead of flowers, people donate to the Missouri Department of Conservation and wear green attire, as “Riley often quipped, ‘Green makes you look good.'”
