Dead Infant Found At University Of Tampa Campus
According to Tampa Police, on Monday, a deceased baby was discovered in a garbage can outside a University of Tampa dorm on Sunday night.
Near McKay Hall, where first-year students are housed, TPD forensic teams can be seen in the video. Around seven o’clock at night, authorities discovered a baby girl there wrapped in a towel.
According to TPD, the baby’s body was taken to a medical examiner for an autopsy in order to ascertain the cause of death and disclose the baby’s developmental stage.

The mother of the kid has been identified by the police and has been taken to a nearby hospital. As of right now, her name has not been disclosed.
Students did receive a school alert text message informing them of the ongoing inquiry and advising them to avoid the area, but the private university has not responded to inquiries about the incident. Fox 13 News in Tampa reports that campus authorities have stated there is no public threat.

Tampa Police Reinforce Florida Safe Haven Law Awareness
According to a statement from Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw, “The loss of a child is always a tragedy. As our department actively investigates this incident, we want all expectant mothers to know there are resources available.”
The Safe Haven law in Florida “allows parents to anonymously surrender an unharmed newborn infant seven days old or younger to any Fire Station, EMS station, or hospital staffed by full-time emergency medical technicians, paramedics, or firefighters,” according to the TPD.
“There will be no questions asked, and no charges will be filed for surrendering a newborn under the Safe Haven Law unless the infant has signs of abuse or neglect.”
