Donna Digennaro, Clermont Historical Society
The Clermont Historical Society would like to extend its sincere thanks to Mr. Bob Farrell for all his efforts on our behalf. Because of Bob’s hard work the World War II Quonset hut at the Historic Village has beautiful new, resilient floor covering.
Bob is Quartermaster at Clermont’s VFW Post #5277 and through his work there learned of a $1,500 VFW National Grant that could be put toward the new flooring, and he set out to get that grant for the Quonset hut. But his efforts did not stop there! He then dedicated himself to raising the remaining funds and to finding a company to do the work.
Thank you goes to the following organizations for their support of this project: The African Queen Project (Mark Koloc), The Marine Corps League, Michaels Foundation (Matt Titus), VFW Post 5277 Auxiliary, and VFW Post 5377. Thank you also to the following individuals for their kind donations: Jeannie Ashine, Doug & Pattie Brainard, Mr. & Mrs. Ron Chappo, Cindy & Gerry Courtney, Juan Duenas, Jr., Bob Farrell, Thomas Frankinfield, Nelson Gonzalez, Dick Hufnagel, Cathy & Randy Lund, Gail & Tony Marrone, Bill Mayberry, Mrs. & Bobby Mock, Maria & Frank Montagnino, James Nelson, Chris St. John, Lucille & Dennis Teller, Fred Thomas, Cathy & Jeff Thompson, and Jefrey Zupec.
The Historical Society invites you to come by any Saturday or Sunday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm to see the beautiful flooring installed by Titan Garage Flooring Solutions out of Orlando. Their crew did an excellent job in only two days.
If you are interested in the history of Clermont or history in general, why not consider joining the Historical Society. Dues are only $25.00 for an individual or $35.00 for a couple. The Historical Society meets on the second Monday of every month in the Railroad Depot at the Village. The board meetings start at 6:00 pm and are open to the public. The next meeting is on Monday, September 14.
