A Central Florida defendant was convicted of crimes against a child.
“Your prosecutors are dedicated to protecting you and your family by ridding our communities of those who prey upon our children,” State Attorney R.J. Larizza said about the case.
After a two-day trial, a Volusia County jury found defendant Steven Cribb guilty as charged of two counts of Sexual Battery on person less than 12 years of age, two counts of Lewd/Lascivious Molestation on person less than 12 years of age, Conspiracy to Commit Sexual Battery on person less than 12 years of age, and Conspiracy to Commit Lewd/Lascivious Molestation on person less than 12 years of age.
Immediately following the verdict, he was sentenced to mandatory life in prison for the Capital Sexual Battery convictions.
“A life sentence in this case makes justice a reality for all of us,” State Attorney R.J. Larizza said
The Volusia Sheriff’s Office investigated the case. Assistant State Attorneys Jeanne Stratis and Haley Mark successfully tried the case for the State of Florida. The Honorable Kathleen McNeilly presided over the case and pronounced sentence.
