Troy Aikman was the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys for many years. On Monday night, he was back in the broadcast booth for the first time since his mother, Charlyn Aikman, died. She turned 80.
Last Thursday, one day after his mom died, Troy Aikman wrote a post on social media to remember her.
Terri Starns and Tammy Powell were her daughters.
Aikman said on Instagram, “I’ve always thought there are angels among us.” “One of those angels was my mom. We could not have asked for a better mother than the one we had. A selfless woman who gave up more than anyone could imagine for her children’s sake. Since she died last night, I’ve been getting a lot of support.

“The main point is that she was nice to them, which doesn’t surprise me. Everybody liked her. And anyone who wanted some of her time could always get it. People liked her. I’m sure she knew that, but I’m unsure how much she’d be missed. I love you, Mom.”
Aikman is usually on Sportsradio on Thursday mornings. The Ticket is on 96.7 FM/1310 and KTCK-AM. Last week, the Pro Football Hall of Famer’s radio show was cancelled because his family had died.
He was back on Monday Night Football for the Philadelphia Eagles home game against the Washington Commanders at Lincoln Financial Field. His longtime partner Joe Buck was also there.
Charlyn Aikman was born in Long Beach, California, and lived in Lewisville. She also has a brother, Mark Bailey, and a sister, Melanie Osendorf. She also has six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
