Florida Democratic Party Hopeful Top of Ticket Candidates Will Defeat Republicans

The Florida Democratic Party is hopeful that the top of the ticket candidates will defeat Republicans in November.

Florida Democrats nominated the candidates who will lead the ticket in November and the party says this slate could end decades of one-party rule in Tallahassee.

“Floridians are paying more for groceries, gas, and insurance that covers less every year, and the people responsible have run out of excuses,” Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried stated. “Florida Democrats put forward a unity platform built entirely around affordability, because that is what Floridians are struggling with most. Republicans would rather spend the next three months talking about anything but the cost of living, and we are not going to let them.

“We have out-enrolled Republicans in vote-by-mail, recruited poll observers across the state, and have more than 6,000 volunteers contacting voters in all 67 counties. Democrats are united, organized, and ready to win.”

The Florida Democratic Party congratulated the statewide and cabinet nominees on their victories:

  • U.S. Senate: Angie Nixon
  • Governor and Lieutenant Governor: David Jolly and Gwen Graham
  • Attorney General: José Javier Rodríguez
  • Chief Financial Officer: Annette Taddeo
  • Commissioner of Agriculture: Joey Mendoza Atkins

While the Democratic Party is hopeful, Florida Republicans dominated the Democrats in voter turnout for the August primary election, and the GOP said it was united and ready to win in November. “We are one team with one mission: Elect Byron Donalds as Governor, re-elect Senator Moody, Attorney General Uthmeier, CFO Ingoglia and Commissioner Simpson, and elect Republicans up and down the ballot,” said Florida GOP Chairman Evan Power.

But the Florida Democrats believe the primary energized the party and the candidates at the top of the ticket can offer something different to voters.

“Our primaries are a time to engage in passionate debate over the future of our party, and strengthen our stewardship over our shared values,” FDP Chair Nikki Fried stated.

Progressive Democrat Angie Nixon also said her campaign is ready to take on Republican Senator Ashley Moody after her big win in the Democratic primary over the establishment choice.
