FORT WORTH, TEXAS – In a major development in one of Texas’ most shocking child murder cases, Tanner Lynn Horner has pleaded guilty to the kidnapping and killing of 7-year-old Athena Strand.
The case has now moved into the punishment phase, where a Tarrant County jury will decide whether Horner will face the death penalty or life in prison without parole.
Guilty Plea on First Day of Trial
Horner, a former FedEx delivery driver, admitted in court to committing the brutal crime during the opening day of his capital murder trial.
The trial was relocated to Fort Worth to ensure a fair jury, focusing on the events of November 30, 2022, in the small town of Paradise, Texas.
