A former local TV anchor is calling on his opponent and Republican incumbent to drop out of the Central Florida race.
Ryan Elijah, an Emmy-winning news anchor, is challenging Central Florida Republican Congressman Cory Mills. He made his call for Rep. Mills to drop his reelection bid because of investigations into scandals plaguing the member of Congress who currently represents Florida’s 7th congressional district, which includes Seminole County and parts of Volusia County.
“I am calling for Congressman Mills to drop his bid for reelection,” candidate Ryan Elijah stated. “The new Department of Justice investigation, along with the House Ethics Committee investigation, makes it impossible for him to deliver for the people of Seminole and Volusia counties.”
Rep. Cory Mills has strongly denied any criminal wrongdoing. Rep. Mills’ reelection campaign describes the incumbent as a combat veteran, entrepreneur, foreign policy expert, constitutionalist, and a “true American conservative,” saying he is fighting for the people, restoring the voice of “We The People” and making America First Again.
Ryan Elijah, a Sanford Republican, raised over $300,000 for his congressional war chest in just two months against the current Congressman, signaling that many Republicans want a change in the Central Florida district. That kind of momentum in politics is likely worrying incumbent Congressman Cory Mills.
“I would be honored to represent the people of Florida’s 7th Congressional District in Seminole and Volusia Counties,” Elijah said in his campaign announcement. “We must have a Representative in Washington who puts your needs first. I have raisedd my family in the district for 14 years and will make hardworking families, small businesses, and safe communities my number one priority.”
